Eric Butterfield is a singer/songwriter from Northern California, where he performs as a solo acoustic act. His songs tell stories that are personal, yet universal. His sound is influenced by everything from rock to indie folk to spaghetti westerns.
In January 2018, Eric released “Wake Me in Paris,” a ballad about long-distance romance. The song, co-written and produced by Scott Mickelson, was a semi-finalist in the 2017 International Songwriting Competition, in the unsigned category. Eric's song, "In Love With Love," was a semi-finalist in the 2018 Song Of The Year competition.
Eric also puts out music as Sons of the Golden West (www.sotgw.com) and released a six-song EP in 2016, “Oh, California!” He is also one half of the indie rock duo Sunday Morning Astronauts.
Eric is a fourth-generation Californian who can trace his family to the days of the Mayflower, as well as a descendant of newly landed immigrants. His West Coast roots, travel and wanderlust inform a sense of a rapidly changing landscape and history being lost.
Eric's music has appeared in more than 250 TV episodes on major broadcast and cable networks, including A&E (Born This Way), NBC (Last Call With Carson Daly), MTV, Animal Planet, BBC America, Discovery (Porter Ridge), CBS College Sports, and National Geo Explorer.
