"Hit a man, he'll break or bruise
Swing at a memory, it ducks your moves"
So goes the story in "Dead Ex-Boyfriend Blues." Whereas last year's "Wake Me in Paris" told a more sentimental tale of a long-distance relationship, "Dead Ex" is decidedly unsentimental, telling the story of another kind of agony—trying to win the heart of a woman who is still in love with her dead ex.
Written by Eric Butterfield and Scott Mickelson, the song was produced by Scott Mickelson, with Frank Reina on drums.
